Help Keep Bridgeberry.Net On The Air
Even though this site is self-hosted, there are operating costs to keep it alive. We’re already saving a decent amount of money by not hosting in the cloud or with a hosting company. The costs that are still apparent are:
- Server hardware maintenance – there are material costs to replace aged/failed components. Hard to estimate this cost, but I’d imagine approx. $15/month averaged out over time
- Electricity – running a server 24/7 does place an added cost to the power bill monthly. Cost is approx. $15/month
- Annual SSL Certificate – This cost pays for the SSL certificate that the site uses to maintain secure connections and verify trust with browsers. I did renew the SSL cert for a 5 year term to maximize per year cost savings. Cost is approx. $38/year
- Annual Domain registry renewal – to keep the bridgeberry.net domain name, this cost must be paid annually. Cost is approx. $20/year
